People during the Viking Age could make things like socks, gloves and hats by ‘needle binding’ – nålebinding in Norwegian. You could call it the Viking Age equivalent of knitting. But it is a very different technique.
In this session you will learn how to use a simple needle made of wood to create simple stiches using wool – but importantly enough knowledge for you to carry on and make your own hat, gloves or socks.
- What is needle binding?
- How did people in the Viking Age use it?
- Learn and try for yourself some simple stiches in wool
- Needle and wool provided as part of the session price.
